My partner and I went on a 5-day hike in the Atlas Mountains in February - with Youseff, a guide who had newly joined the company. We spent 4 days going through villages in the Mountains, staying in small guest houses. Then we stayed in the Toubkal refuge and on the last day went up Toubkal and back down to Imlil. Youseff was a great guide – even though some of the route was improvised to account for some heavy snow fall on the route we normally would have been taken on. He seemed to know (and get on very well with) everyone we encountered in the mountains, which was very lovely to see. He was really supportive going up the mountain – he stuck by us the whole way up making sure we were ok and sometimes steadying my partner against the very strong winds.

The places we stayed were comfortable (much more so than we were expecting). We were carrying heavy duty 4-season sleeping bags, which weren’t necessary anywhere we stayed. Most of the food was brilliant. We’re both vegan so not so straightforward to cater for in Morocco. For any other vegans going - it would be good to remind the company just before you go – we discussed it quite far in advance, but this had been forgotten along the way – so it did take a couple of days to get the food properly sorted (we still ate but it was lacking in protein – after that we had some amazing vegan tagines with beans and chickpeas). We were keen to do the trek without mules. Other companies we spoke to said this was impossible. Imlil treks were happy with this plan. It was relatively easy to do this if you’re comfortable carrying a largeish pack (you can leave it at the refuge when you’re actually going up the mountain).

From talking to others at the refuge Imlil Treks were also good value (we paid less than others and had a great experience)....

IMLIL treks did not deliver on the service which they had offered. They happily charged the money upfront but then provided only partial service of mediocre quality. I booked, and paid for, a private guided trek but not only was I initially allocated to a group but was ultimately left without any guide at all halfway through the trek! No explanation nor apology was given. When I complained they lied to that I would get the service I requested and paid upfront in full. Then they kept on lying promising a refund which they never made. Be careful with this company. Not a very honest one. Two stars not one only because I made it...
