We were going to do a tasting and tour of the winery. We started with the tasting. We were brought goat cheese and bread, which was very good. Osama brought out a white wine that he poured for us and told us a bit about it. Grapes were from Europe. He was very polite and left us, which we thought would be for a few minutes while he brought the next one. The wine was nice, but he left us there with that open bottle, bread and cheese for 30 minutes. We weren't sure if we were supposed to pour ourselves more, but we didn't want to overindulge as we were expecting more wine. He finally came back and poured us a rose. Grapes, again, from Europe. That wine was bland and left a bad aftertaste. We sat again for 20 minutes before they brought the last one, a red. Grapes from France. We were facing the vineyard and so we asked Osama if they made wine from the grapes they grow there and he said for sure they do. We didn't want to be rude, but wondered why we weren't getting those, which was the reason we visited a winery in Morocco. The red was also not good. It was rainy and cold (not their fault of course) and we weren't sure how long we were going to be left again so we opted to leave before the tour. Maybe it's standard for sampling 3 wines to take an hour, but it's not been our experience. The place is lovely and the people were very kind, so I feel badly leaving this review. There were so many positive reviews, but I thought people should hear about a variety of...
Read moreA beautiful vista of vineyards and countryside! Worth a visit. Mohamed and the team were kind enough to show us their vineyard and share their wine on Dec 31, when most of the staff was on holiday.
We sampled the red, rose, and gris wine. All very good - our group each left with different favorites. We also made friends with the friendly dogs that accompanied our tour.
Highly recommended!
Logistics: call ahead to reserve. Also request for them to send a driver to pick you up. If you take a taxi from the train station, 300-350dh is a fair price (we had 6 people). GPS coordinates on their site are accurate for navigation. French or English tours (ours: a bit of franglais). We spent 1.5 hours there, a bit shorter than their normal...
Read moreMy husband and I had a great experience at Domaine de la Zouina. We emailed a few days ahead of time to make a reservation with Christophe. The plan was for us to take a train from Casablanca to Meknes, they would arrange for a driver to pick us up in Meknes and take us to Domaine de la Zouina. We had a wonderful three hour experience with another couple- we’d toured the facilities and then enjoyed a tasting with dried fruits and delicious local goat cheeses. The price per person is 300 dirham for this tour. We never felt rushed and all our questions were answered. The wines were amazing, we bought three bottles! Their specialty brand Epicuria runs about 150 dirham a bottle. Overall, highly recommend if you are around the...
