Amazing place. Best example of eco-tourism. The elephants are all rescue elephants either coming from logging camps or from private owners who used them for festivals. The elephant, the mahoot and his family all come to live at the camp and the mahoot is paid to care for his elephant. The family is given a home, free health care and their children get an education at the school nearby which was provided by the camp. The elephants get adoring visitors to feed them all day with their favourite food, pumpkin. They also enjoy "spa" treatments with their visitors is the icy water of the river that runs through the property. This means that you get to scrub the elephant while they lol in the pools. You get to see how the camp is run and the projects they are involved with. Lunch is also provided and was delicious. The driver waits all day at the camp. This costs extra. This was one of the best days of my life. Absolutely thrilling and...
