A couple of days ago, we went to the Daan Viljoen game park, just outside Windhoek. People, listen careful to me. Do not go if you do not have a 4x4. No one is telling that to you. Even not at the entrance of the park. They ask you if you coming for the day or want to stay. We had to fill in a form and to go to the entrance, 1 km away from the gate. That was a nice asphalt road and was 6 kilo's. We paid R190,--. The fee was higher for us because we came from SA. Than we went to the start of the tour. The first km was not bad, but after that? Our poor car it was than bumping and deep potholes. After 4 kilo's we had to climb on a hill and half way there was loos sand and the wheel starts to spin and the care went slowly backwards, down the hill. Than there was a steep pothole and the car did not like it. We tried to put the wheels on some stones, but no. Than Jos turned slowly the car and we went back to the reception. There they said that we should not go with our car. Only 4x4 can make the tour. You also can walk. We asked them when we could have read that it only was for 4x4. They said om the permit we did get. We did read that, but it was not on. We asked our money back, but they do not refund at all. People if you love your car, do not go to the Daan Viljoen game park. On the website you can read that there is a nice restaurant. But at the reception they are telling you, that the restaurant is only for them who are staying in the lodge for minimal 2 days. No excuse nothing. Lucky we had our own coffee in the car. Bur no meals. Stay away there. At the reception they gave us the wrong information for a complaint by the Department. Again...
Read moreA Mixed Experience at Daan Viljoen Game Reserve
I recently spent four days at Daan Viljoen game reserve, staying at the campsite. While the natural beauty of the reserve is undeniable, I couldn't help but notice some neglect in the maintenance of the overall resort, leaving a less-than-ideal impression.
On a positive note, our experience was elevated by the outstanding service provided by Aron, a dedicated staff member. His attentive and friendly demeanor made a significant difference, from bringing drinks to the pool to catering to our every need. Without Aron, our stay would have been considerably less enjoyable.
Additionally, the restaurant at the resort delivered a delightful culinary experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the food served, adding a positive touch to our overall impression.
In conclusion, while the resort's maintenance left room for improvement, the exceptional service from Aron and the delightful dining experience made our stay at Daan Viljoen game reserve a memorable one. I hope the management takes note of both the positive aspects and areas that need attention for future...
Read moreI recently visited Daan Viljoen and had an unforgettable experience. The chalets provided a comfortable stay, and the friendly service, especially from Aaron, added a personal touch to our trip. The restaurant served delicious food, and enjoying drinks by the pool throughout the day was a highlight. The presence of animals wandering around enhanced the bush experience, though visitors should be cautious about baboons. Overall, Daan Viljoen offers a perfect blend of nature, comfort, and excellent service. Highly recommended for a...
