Awful place. After camping all around Namibia in staggeringly beautiful campsites we arrived here. At first I wondered why people had opened their rooftop tents in a car park, only to realise that this was actually the campsite.... imagine a music festival campsite situated in a gravel car park and you'll get the idea.

Check in took forever, for some reason they need to note absolutely everything down in their computer and then read the information to you so that you can then fill it out in a large book. We came out of season, who knows what chaos this 'system' would cause if it was busy.

We decided to 'upgrade' to a chalet. Apparently the only one available was the most expensive right next to the watering hole. Chalet was nice, however hadn't been cleaned properly and all of the furniture, bed linens and roof were filled with huge spiders and spider nests. We asked 2 of our neighbours if their chalets were the same - they were not.

We had prebooked this site, Halali and Namutoni- after reading similar reviews for the other 2 sites we decided to leave Etosha tomorrow morning and instead travel down to a cheetah reserve

Would NOT recommend this place to...

What can you say except it's an incredible, location, a place to truly watch and contemplate the variety, beauty, and pace of nature. I could spend days just watching this watering hole and all the animals that come by -- herds of impalas, springbok, wildebeest, familles of rhino ...and éléphants. We even saw a few hyenas and others canines, not to mention huge numbers and variety if birds. The desert and life here are simply gorgeous.

The NWB resorts have a tendency toward somewhat surly customer service, which is a contrast to everywhere else in calm, friendly Namibia; however, there are also many nice staff. The food is fine, the lodging nice, and the location and experience just amazing!!

If you can visit Namibia and Etosha, you will be moved by your experience and...

Friendly staff. Someone assisted with the luggage to take to the bungalow. That was new and tank you. Open toiletts not very clean. Should have a person to come and clean regulary. When we pitched up for dinner we were asked if we booked for dinner we're not told to book for dinner when checking in even we had a bungalow incl dinner bed and breakfast. Dinner was disappointed, chicken which we took for the children very spicy. Not mentioned on menu. Not enough cutlery at breakfast time. Should rather have Bungalow excl dinner bed and breakfast and give the visitor the choice if he wants to eat in the restaurant or not and charge it separate. Bungalow was clean except for not all lights were working. Reported it. We enjoyed...

No elephants to be seen. Very windy during the day. Cold at night. Lots of dust. Camp sites close together. Bring your own drinking water and cheaper firewood. Shop has no meat for sale. Bin scratches at viewing site during the midday. Security is a problem. Told to lock up your stuff. No point in complaining...it's your problem if you see people walking around the camp who should not be there ( according to security guard I spoke to as they are removing plastic containers.) No diesel for sale. This camp has gone downhill. I will not be returning here again ... Too expensive and no value for money plus the security concerns. MTc reception works. No free WiFi.

Petty expensive for fairly basic accommodation but that seems to be the price for staying inside the park. We were in a bush chalet that was only a couple of minutes walk to the water hole. The highlight is definitely the water hole. You can sit and watch the sunset and see what animals will come to drink. We were there in April and there was only a handful of animals that we saw at the water hole - giraffe, rhino, antelope & jackals.

I stayed at the chalets nearby. So incredible to sit with a bottle of wine and watch the animals slowly approach the watering hole. The floodlight was great for viewing. Such amazing sunsets too. I was lucky enough to see at least seven different rhinos, an elephant, and other smaller creatures. What a beautiful area! If you stay at this lodge, definitely select a chalet and stop at the watering hole!
