Beeshazar and Associated Lakes. 13/08/03; Chitawan; 3,200 ha; 27°37'N, 084°26'E. National Park buffer zone. An extensive, typical oxbow lake system of the tropical Inner Terai area in Central Nepal, lying inside buffer zone of the Royal Chitwan National Park, a World Heritage site. Situated between the Mahabharat mountain range to the north and the Siwalik range to the south, this forested wetland provides excellent habitat as a water hole and corridor for endangered wildlife species, including the critically endangered White-rumped Vulture (Gyps bengalensis), endangered tiger (Panthera tigris), one-horned rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis) and Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus), vulnerable Smooth-coated Otter (Lutra perpiscillata), Sloth Bear (Melaurus ursinus), Marsh Crocodile (Crocodylus palustris), Lesser Adjutant Stork (Leptotilos javanicus), Ferruginous duck (Aythya nyroca), and Band-tailed fish eagle (Haileetus leucoryphus). The surrounding forest area is populated by nearly 100,000 people who practice farming and fishing in the lake, which is managed through a fishing contract, awarded once a year. Thanks to heightened awareness of the site's importance the protection of its resources has been improved, e.g. invasive species posing threats to the wetlands are manually removed by local communities and authorities of the Royal Chitwan National Park. Due to the recent designation as the buffer zone, the Buffer Zone Management Committee has been constituted for its participatory management. There is a training centre for Armed Forest Guards/Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation which was formerly known as the Rhino Patrol, and a visitor center established at Royal Chitwan National Park. Ramsar site no. 1313....

Nice place.. One only lake of chitwan. Bish Hazari (20 Thousand) lake is in the southern corner of Bharatpur. The lake is very attractive for the bird lovers and serves as an important bird watching center. The lake area houses lots of crocodiles and thus is equally attractive for the reptile lovers. The Lake Lies nearby Chitwan National Park. Bish hazari lake lies just 5 km south from the city center (Chaubishkothi) of Bharatpur.

There are various reason to call the lake as Bish Hajari taal. The meaning of Bish Hajari is Twenty Thousand (20,000). The first reason to call it Bish Hajar is: there are lots of small and big lakes and its counting is to much, more than thousand so it is called 20,000 Lake. The another reason to call it Bish Hajari is when we see the lake from the sky, the shape of the lake is like 20,000.

The lake likes inside Chitwan National park and has good environment there. Some wild animals specially crocodiles and rhinos are found often near Bish Hajari Taal. Different birds migrate to Bish Hajar Taal from the Northern Pole of the earth in search of Suitable environment. In winter the Northern poles are very cold and to escape from the massive cold, birds migrate to Bish...

Bis Hazari Taal, located just about 30 minutes from Sauraha, is a hidden gem within Chitwan National Park, offering a serene escape into nature. The lake, named after its seemingly countless (literally "20,000") small water bodies, is surrounded by lush greenery and dense forests, making it a perfect spot for those seeking peace away from the busy tourist hubs. A visit here requires purchasing a ticket before entering the national park area. You can explore the site by bike or on a safari vehicle, but walking is strictly prohibited due to the presence of wildlife. The journey through the forest to the lake is an experience in itself, with a high chance of spotting birds, deer, and other wildlife. Once at the lake, the calm water, occasional ripples from fish, and the reflection of towering trees create a mesmerizing scene. Old wooden boats resting along the shore add a rustic charm to the scenery. Whether you sit quietly soaking in the beauty, take photos of the breathtaking landscape, or enjoy a moment of solitude, Bis Hazari Taal is the ideal place for nature lovers. If you are in Chitwan and want a peaceful retreat, this lake is definitely worth the visit.

So Saturday at 10 Am we decided to give bisharaji Tal a visit. As it was a hectic week for me and I wanted some break, I along with my family went there. We took our personal vehicle for which they charged 300 . It was expensive as parking wasn't satisfactory. The road was too narrow that if 2 cars approaches each other from Both side than its disastrous . Nayway , we reached there after 30 minutes of drive. I like how it felt , just loved the way nature bends . The breeze of air flowing with the water . Really had a great time . Saw caterpillar ,leeches and fishes all over. Alot of brids too. People were minding there own business and enjoying the view, which was fresh to see .

A very nice place to visit, but entry fee for a bike is too much. Also it seems the visitors have no respect for the area because there is trash lying around even when there are trash bins a few feet away. The lake is beautiful when other visitors are not around partying and making lots of noise. It would be an excellent place for birdwatching if it was not for this. It would be good if visitors who left trash behind would be fined. Maybe in future when visitors gain more respect for their surroundings.
