Triveni is a scenic village on the Nepalese side of the border between Nepal and India with the TRIVENI RIVER flowing right through it. Also known as join of three NARAYANI rivers. Or some says joining thirteen rivers .Its possibly the cleanest river in Nepal, the water is so clear that one can see the river bed 20 feet below. The deeper parts give an emerald green shine to the river. There are local fishermen converted tourist operators who are ready to give a ride to the tourist; one can hire a boat for Rs.500 which includes life jackets & can sit about 10 people. These boats are quite shallow on water and feel ready to topple although while we were there no such incidents happened.
The place provides the tourist with a taste of locals life, we saw many elders and children fishing on boats and along the cliff edges, there was a active market along a shore where fisherman barter and sell there wares.
Now a day’s with more tourist discovering the place, the river is becoming crowded and dirty, one can see bottles floating in deeper parts of the river. With so many boats floating at the same time, tourist and fisherman alike, the place is losing its charm. While one can still capture amazing sights on their camera, a lot of patience is needed to get a shot without the crowds.
There are lots of local company’s offering water sports like swimming, dancing, relaxing, meditation, & camping facilities. We had made our plan to walking and without plans, having only few hrs in hand we didn’t get to explore the options, advice to research and book in advance for such activities.
