Mahabhir/Mohini Jharana, located in Thadokhola, Kulekhani, Makwanpur, is a beautiful waterfall about 50 km southwest of Kathmandu, making it an excellent weekend getaway. You can reach it via the Chandragiri route through Chitlang, then continue to Simlang for a motorboat ride followed by a 35-minute hike. Alternatively, you can drive from Ampudol via the Shera route. If you're using a private vehicle, make sure it’s a 4x4 with good ground clearance, as the road is off-road and rough in parts. The hike to the waterfall is challenging but rewarding, offering stunning views along the way. Once you arrive, the serene surroundings and refreshing waters of the waterfall make it a perfect spot for swimming, relaxation, and photography. In my experience, Mohini Jharana combines adventure and tranquility perfectly. The scenic journey and peaceful atmosphere make it a great escape from the busy city life.

From the hotel we stayed it took around 1 hour 30 minutes to reach the place walking. It was worth it tbh. The place was really pretty. Had a lot of fun there. Initially had a plan to take a bath but the water was so freaking cold so I backed out. My friend jabir did swim and hit some Greek aesthetic pose. Overall I had a great time, so did the others . Photos are added randomly from the points on the way to the destination itself. You need to pay Rs.25 to get inside the jharna area but many of my friends skipped it and barged straight ahead .

The waterfall is enveloped by lush greenery, offering visitors a serene environment to connect with nature. One of its main attractions is the natural swimming pool formed at its base, providing a refreshing retreat for those looking to cool off. For those looking to extend their visit, the nearby village of Chitlang offers accommodations such as the Chitlang Village Resort. Here, guests can immerse themselves in local culture, enjoy traditional Nepalese cuisine, and participate in activities like exploring the Bheda Farm, known for its picturesque landscapes and sheep farming practices. The journey typically involves a drive to the Indrasarovar Reservoir, followed by a boat ride across the lake, and finally a short hike to the waterfall. This multi-modal approach not only adds to the adventure but also allows visitors to experience the scenic beauty of the region from different perspectives.

In summary, Mohini Jharana offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty, adventure, and cultural experiences. One of the best attractions of Kulekhani...Option to reach the waterfall: you can simply take a boat and do upward hike for 45 Mins. You can walk. Cross the jhunungey pul and walk for 1.5-2 hrs. While returning, you can take the mobile no. of boat service provider and call for the return service. However, this is not full proof. The boat service provider sometimes doesn't pick up the phone. So, don't rely. You have to take back the same route for return journey and it takes around 2 hrs. Take a motorcycle..probably the best option.

I was very disappointed with the tourists visiting this place...people are throwing garbage everywhere...we can see empty beer cans, water bottles, plastic wraps....Please carry these rubbishes along with you and throw it on a proper place.. Locals haven't done much for making this place more beautiful & managed one. I suggest the gaupalika to levy certain charge from the tourist and manage...
