The views here aren't among the best on the EBC trek, and to be fair, by the time you've gotten here you'll have already seen many views that are far more beautiful (the Hillary Bridge just a little ways down the hill has MUCH better views). That said, what makes this place worth 5 stars is that it is the first time on the trek (or last if you're on your way back down the mountain) that you will be able to see Mount Everest (and Lhotse and Nuptse).
On your way up the trail towards EBC, unless you leave Phakding super early in the morning, you hike super fast or you eat the briefest of lunches along the way, by the time you get here it's likely that the clouds will have already rolled in and Everest won't be visible. If that's the case don't worry, you'll likely see it the following morning (or the day after if you take a full rest day in Namche Bazaar). On the way back down from EBC you'll likely get here early in the morning on your trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla, so you should have a good final view of Everest.
Even if Everest isn't visible when you get here, it's still worth stopping at. It is more or less the halfway point on the final section of your hike from the valley floor up the 600m hill on top of which lies Namche Bazaar, so you'll probably want a quick break. There are also toilets here (though they are rudimentary and...
Read moreFrom Top Danda, you will see the first glimpse of Mount Everest...Wonderful view of Everest if clear. There is no real marking here letting you know to look for Everest. Best chance is early morning, but you might get lucky other times. This is just a resting place while hiking upward to Namche Bazar from phakding. Everest view from here isn't very clear as it's blocked by woods. On my way back, spotted a mountain goat grazing in the slopes, couldn't get any clean shot on camera as it was behind the bush. Some useful info such as elevation & details about flora n fauna in this region is written on the board there. It is a point where you can see Everest when the weather is good, and it is the only supply station on the way to Namche. Until now, there have been restaurants quite often, but once you start climbing, there is only this place. Moreover, the price is expensive because it feels like an individual sells it without permission. Higher than Namche. If you want to save money, prepare in advance. There is one free toilet and one pay toilet. Is there a charge for people who don't...
