Kalapatthar is the best view point too see the Mt everest including the glaciar.Tbis is higher altitude then the base camp5560m.I went kalapatthar after base camp . For the sunset and sunrise kalapatthar is the best view point .it is too cold and freezing take care yourself.if you are mentally prepare the only you can come here because this is high altitude if you are fit only you can come here. Main problem is AMS problem all people cannot summit kalapatthar.it is rocky mountain and steep.it take 2 and half hour from Gorakshep tea house. When you come to view point don't forgot to bring the hot water because when you are climbing the hill our mouth will dry and water have more oxygen it help better to...

I’m pretty Athletic and the walk up this was still reeeaaally tough. Our guide got “sick” (he was a little tubby and I think just knackered) so we did lobuche to EBC to gorakshep to kala patthar and back to lobuche just my partner, the Sherpa porter, and I.

Without stuff to carry, the sherpa was basically flying the whole way and did kala patthar in just over an hour that morning. Completely gassed me by the top!

But the view is incredible and one of the many highlights of the trip. TIP: do the trek in winter to avoid the crowds. There’s enough spare yak blankets to battle the cold, and the scenery is even more impressive with the snow one day, then it’s blown away and barren the next!

Cannot...

Kala Patthar the only location on the south side of Everest where you get a slightly more enhanced view, most of the mountain is behind Lho La to the left and Nuptse to the right, but don’t let that put you off! We went up in the afternoon after EBC, set off about 2pm and on the summit by around 4pm. Was cloudy, but enough wind to keep things moving and every few minutes we’d see Everest. Was beautiful and the clouds actually really emphasised the ephemeral beauty of the mountains. We stayed for around an hour, then it was getting a bit chilly, we were down and getting warm by 6.30pm. It’s a full day out with EBC in the morning, and a bit of a gamble with the weather, but well worth...
