A lake better than Gunde/Gude lake but not as good as Rupa lake of Pokhara. The place requires lot of attention for its conservation and naturally encloses fresh water within its area of 24 hectors approx. The committee with locals has started fishery in the lake so as to control zooplanktons and phytoplanktons as a method of biological control. It has enough water to be seen as a lake and has open space around so that you can enjoy the view around including green hills and Annapurna massif. This lake is famous destination among bird watchers and is also known as “Bird Wetland.” The Siberiann, Indian and Afghani birds can be often spotted here, who come to the area to protect themselves from the cold. If you are a Bird lover, this lake can be in your bucket list.

Khaste lake is a freshwater lake located at the Kharane Phant in Pokhara metropolitan city, Nepal with total area of 24.8030 hectares (61.290 acres). Pisciculture has been practiced in this lake for several years. The area known as Bird Wetland is best suited as a bird watching on the lake. Siberian, Indian and Afghani birds come here to find refuge from the cold. Yellow bittern, a summer migratory bird species has been observed near the lake. Area has potential to become research center for migratory birds of different species. Tourism board and locals should increase accommodation facilities and good publicity. I loved this place for weekend plan.

No provision of conservation or protection. Maybe they have many beautiful lakes, so why bother making this one..

Definitely a recommended place for explorers and lake lovers. Though while I visited there was no white lotus blooming, if you are lucky enough you might just be able to see those beautiful flowers blooming. With a restaurant named after the flower and temple nearby, it is worth a visit. And also for a hike around the location. If you could take time out for a naturally beautiful landscape, this place is recommended and not that far away...
