Butwal is a vibrant sub-metropolitan city in western Nepal, situated in the Rupandehi District of Lumbini Province. Strategically located at the convergence of two major highways, it serves as a crucial transit and commercial hub connecting the Indian border to the south with the hilly towns of Tansen and Pokhara to the north. Butwal's location on the banks of the Tinau River, at the edge of the Terai plains and below the Siwalik Hills, gives it a unique geographical character.
As one of Nepal's fastest-growing cities, Butwal is a center for trade, education, and healthcare. Its economic dynamism is supported by a mix of traditional and modern markets, and a growing number of businesses in the banking, communication, and construction sectors. Historically, Butwal was a significant trading post and the site of the Battle of Jitgadhi, a key victory for the Nepalese army during the Anglo-Nepalese War.
For visitors, Butwal offers a blend of natural beauty and historical sites. Attractions include the Jitgadhi Fort, a testament to the city's military history, and Manimukunda Sen Park (also known as Fulbari), a historic park with scenic views and recreational activities. Butwal also serves as a gateway to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, making it a convenient base for exploring the rich cultural and spiritual heritage...

It lacks a proper swimming pool for lap swimming, seems it is good for beginners & making fun in water. A sport center basically for playing badminton with three courts was nice. A big hall for banquet & party functions looked good. I suggest them to add a good gym hall & other sport facilities. A good place for recreational water activities during summer & playing badminton...
