Castle Ter Horst — Attraction in Apeldoorn

While not the biggest castle you can visit in this area, it is one with an interesting history and the volunteers that work here are very dedicated. The castle includes some nice paintings, including some official portraits of queen Wilhelmina, and gives some insight in how these sorts of castles were used hundreds of years ago. If you are in the area and want to spend a couple of hours this is definitely a recommendation, and the 6 euros that it costs to follow the tour will directly be used for further restoration of the castle. Wij - twee zestigers - hadden wel zin in een kasteelverhaal. Dus parkeerden we onze fietsen donderdag rond 13:30 bij de ingang van het terrein. Inderdaad. Er zou een rondleiding zijn. Maar het beloofde winkeltje voor kaartverkoop was er niet. Van lieverlee verzamelden zich mensen rond de gastvrij openstaande hoofdingang van het huis. Het werd twee uur, de groep groeide naar 24 personen. Het werd 14:10 - nog steeds geen actie. Omdat dit lang zou gaan duren besloten we te vertrekken. Ga maar na. Eerst nog de kaartverkoop, dan met een grote groep (een aantal slecht ter been) door het huis sjokken, en maar afwachten of de gids zich goed verstaanbaar kan maken. Terwijl we wegfietsen zagen we de groep in beweging komen. We hopen dat ze een goede tijd hadden...
