Is there an expanse of water more beautiful than this on planet earth???? I have been visiting Aruba every year since 1989. But I never discovered Tres Trapi until last year. The local newspaper, Aruba Today, did an article about it. So my son Austin and I walked the entire length of the Malmok Boardwalk and continued on by foot to Tres Trapi. The name means "three steps." Someone carved three steps into the rock so snorkelers could have access to one of the primo snorkeling spots on the island. Not too far from here is the famous shipwreck, but you need to be on a boat to get there because it's further out to sea. The beauty of Tres Trapi is you can walk or easily park your car to see some of the best fish on the island. You can't beat it's accessibility. Do note there is really no beach. You come here to enjoy the three shades of turquoise blue water and the glorious schools of fish. The craggy rocks are not meant for sun bathing. I don't snorkel but I love this place because the sea is so gorgeous. There is a God! Just look at that water. There is plenty of parking if you don't want to hoof it. Baby Beach is another otherworldly place to snorkel, but it's at the other end of the island from the resort Strip. Tres Trapi is just down the road. Check it out. Plan to...

The snorkeling here is one of the best on the island if not the best! The water is clear and the current was not too strong. We had fins and had no problems going against the current. There are plenty of fishes to see and the best part is we got to see and swim with a couple of sea turtles! It was definitely a treat to see the turtles and probably one of the highlights of our trip. We had read that the turtles hang out just on the outside of the buoy ropes directly out in front of the steps near the Tres Trapi parking lot. Arrive early so you can secure parking as space is limited. We actually parked in the Boca Catalina beach parking lot just to the north where there is a small beach area with some shade. We started our snorkeling from that area and saw plenty of fishes before making our way to the buoys where the turtles were near the bottom just on the other side of the ropes. If you wait a while they will eventually swim up for air and that’s where we captured our best videos. Tres Trapi is mostly just rocks and not really much of a beach at all but the snorkeling is what it’s all about! Highly...

We came here to see turtles, and we saw turtles! The snorkeling is for slightly stronger swimmers, or at least people like me who know how to float in the ocean. It is a bit of a swim out to where the turtles are (the darker grassy areas in the ocean), and the water is quite deep there - too deep to dive down unless you're very experienced. The water is super clear though, and we loved hovering around the couple of sea turtles we saw. They breached several times which was beautiful to see. I did get a little tired swimming back because of the current, but otherwise it was great. There was also a really cool, large fish that had wings. I was disappointed by several other tourists getting way too close to the turtles breaching, they are magnificent and well protected species that shouldn't have people next to their faces when they go to breathe. Anyways, overall an amazing place and we had no issues with taking the...

This is not really a beach—more like a small rocky cove—but the snorkeling here is amazing, and with just a little luck, you may find yourself swimming amongst a couple of turtles. That alone makes it worth the visit. The water is clear and calm, perfect for spotting colourful fish and coral close to shore. There’s a little stone staircase carved into the rock that leads straight into the water. I’d definitely recommend wearing water shoes—it makes getting in and out a lot easier on your feet. There aren’t any amenities here, so bring your own water, snacks, and snorkel gear. It’s quiet, peaceful, and feels far from the more crowded tourist beaches. Parking is just steps away, and most days, you’ll only be sharing the space with a handful of other visitors. If you're into snorkeling or just want a more laid-back, natural spot to take in Aruba’s beauty, Tres Trapi is definitely worth the stop.
