A great track with excellent viewing and facilities, well worth the visit. So why only 2 stars?? I visited for MotoGP 28-30 June 2024 and on Sunday decided to take advantage of free car parking. After queuing in traffic for 50 minutes we could see the entrance to the circuit. We followed the signs P Auto and P12, the marshals happily waved us through directing us, and many others, to what we thought was the car park. We passed two car parks, one near the entrance and one over the far side of the track, we stopped to turn in but the marshals blocked our way and pointed for us to continue. We arrived at the last car park where the marshal asked if we had a card with a 6 on it, we did not so he blocked our way, told us to turn round and go back. I do not speak Dutch and asked in English where I could park, he just told me to turn around and go. I turned round and stopped at the previous car park where the Marshall just pointed and wouldn’t even speak! Eventually we ended up where we started, following cars that had similarly been turned back. As we again approached the circuit entrance we could see cars parked on the right hand side. The Marshall waved me to continue straight but I turned instead and low and behold further down the road marshals directed me to a parking area. I understand parking large numbers of vehicle is a logistical issue but: You need better signage for car parks Your marshals need to speak and direct, not just point. Employ marshals that know how to direct people to the appropriate car park. Thanks to all this I missed the moto3 race completely. But you kept my...
Read moreI am torn where it comes to rate this track. Where racing is concerned, it is an awesome venue, the race track is amazing and watching MotoGP was a great experience. The circuit is squeezed into a small patch of land so it is quite easy to walk around and see the track from several corners. From the facilities side it is not really good comparing to other tracks. We were on Stekkenwal tribune and it was quite obvious that it has seen better times... tens of years ago. Whole half of the track opposite to the main grand stand feels abandoned and unloved with next to no facilities. During the weekend we spent there the weather was amazingly hot with temperature reaching 30 C on Saturday. Organisers were boasting that they have put a water points all around the track so people could fill their bottles but we could find only one such a point while walking all the way around the track. My biggest gripe is the fact that they are charging for using toilets. You pay hundreds of euros for tickets and you still need to pay for the toilet. That was the first time I saw something like this. the track is still worth visiting as it produces great racing but tame your expectations...
Read moreAt the MotoGP on Sunday it was a nightmare to get in and out. I arrived 9.30 to be asked to park 2kms from the track. After walking to one of only 3 gates you enter and exit from, 105000 people needed bags checked by no more than 4 people at my gate at least. The parking place meant anyone on the other side in stands needed to walk all the way around. All up 2hrs to get to my seat! I missed the start of the Moto3 because they insist that the girls need to physically put the wrist bands on people. Crazy stuff. Leaving was worse. A huge lack of bins meant you walked over trash all the way to the other side (again) and instead of opening all the gates they could they insist once again you leave through those limited exit/entry points. It took 2hrs to get to the car and traffic management out was good but again, seemed badly arranged. 2 hours to reach the main highways. All up 8 hours of getting in and out for the MotoGP, for 3 hours of racing (cause we missed warm-ups) means I wouldn't do it again but hey, that's just my experience. I'm hoping...
