The Afrika Museum is a museum about people Located in the wooded hills of Berg en Dal near Nijmegen. It has both indoor and outdoor exhibits, with regularly changing temporary exhibitions and permanent displays of traditional African objects and its large collection of contemporary African art. Objects that reflect the customs and traditions of different African peoples. They tell stories about universal human themes like mourning, celebration, ornamentation, prayer, conflict; stories that inspire visitors to find out more about the huge cultural diversity to be found in the world.

Most of the exhibits are in Dutch and German. But there are English audio options for some of the exhibits. Outdoor exhibits are worth visiting with children.

It is good to rent a bike from Centraal Station if you are visiting via public transport. If you take a bus still you will have to walk around 2 kms to...

A small cute museum about Africa and the past slavery. The collection is quite small but interesting. The stories about people with an emigration background is interesting. However, I found that the colonial history of Africa was too much focused on the last 100 years. It showed a map of how Africa was divided in 1914. While at this point the Netherlands was no longer in Africa (Surprise). The outside collection shows a few small villages which are interesting, beautiful and kid friendly. I think the museum has a lot of potential but can be improved. Also it sometimes lacks explanation and there is no English...
