Highlight of my trip to Bon Aire! Absolutely stunning nature reserve. Must visit island with bare bones amenities! One of the bluest waters I have seen! 20 mins from main island. Take the water taxis. $25 round trip. Pick up and drop off is every couple hours. 10 am is long snorkel drift option. Last pick up is around 4. Wonderful place to relax, snorkel and soak up the Sun and Water! Very few places for shade. But we found a shaded spot that helped with the blazing sun. (Fortunately no cruise ships were in port and it was not crowded.) Bring your own snacks, lunch, picnic, local rum and goodies. Hat, sunscreen, cooler with ice, umbrella and coverings are essential. Can rent many things from local shops if in need. Wish I could live here, possible to camp with permit. Beautiful colored lizards inhabit here,(don’t feed) and tons of tropical fish call this coral reef their homes. It can rain any moment and pass. Respect this place, and it will reward. Very grateful to have visited this slice of paradise.

We took the Caribe water taxi to Klein Bonaire with Captain Frank. Before docking at the beach, Frank gave us a brief introduction to the island and showed us where to enter the protected reef area. He offered three snorkeling options: 1. Walk from the beach to the reef entry and swim back. 2. Swim to the reef entry area and walk back. 3. Leave our belongings on the beach and be dropped off a bit further out, then swim back toward the beach. We chose option 3, which took us about an hour to return to the beach, including a brief rest by the yellow sign. The snorkeling experience was fantastic; we observed the reefs in the shallow waters and the deep blue sea beyond. Although we didn't see any turtles here (you are guaranteed to see them by the Salt Pier), we still recommend visiting if you're into snorkeling. Lastly, bring an umbrella, as there aren't many shaded spots. Don't forget water and snacks, and plan to stay for 2-3 hours.

Sea Glass!!!! but why 3 stars? So crowded when going here from a cruise ship. But first the sea glass, its not quite as sea weathered but still unique. Edges are smooth but not that brushed look. Was fun looking for it and plenty to be found. The beach itself is beautiful but on the day we went it was over crowded. Water taxis were continuously bringing people and unloading them. With the high winds and rough seas and no chairs, you either got in the water to be tossed around or stood/sat on the beach with sand blowing in your face. But be prepared, no facilities such as bathrooms, water, chairs or anything like that and you'll have a good time.
