So, this is a seriously bizarre experience. It's not a botanical garden so much as it is a trip down the rabbit hole of ancestral-mystic-pseudo-science backyard gardening. You'll learn about many traditional herbal treatments as well as the owner's fondness for drinking sea water. Bone wind chimes, a children's playground made from found and recycled materials, an Alice-in-Wonderland dining table in the middle of the menagerie. These and many other oddities await you. It's fabulous. Go. The $10 admission is well worth the experience.

The owner Sandra opened up her home to show visitors about the benefits of plants, and that the diversity of species can be kept on Bonaire soil. It’s a large garden with whimsical hand-made recycled art pieces made with love around each corner. It’s all maintained by her, with no help from volunteers or Government support. She nursed my sunburn with aloe and kept mosquitos away with a home-made bug repellent. The animals roam freely while the livestock are contained near food and water. It’s not a zoo, and is part of her home.

I honestly expected more from the garden. No guide was available but the owner did inform of the various areas. It's a nice place for children as animals are also there. Overall very quaint. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.

We visited the gardens yesterday and it was the most interesting site we have had the privilege to find on Bonaire in the fourteen years we have been coming here. Manuel is so knowledgeable about the true nature of not only the island, but how we can and should interact we nature itself. Just a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to listen to. At every step he tells you something new about how we can interact with native plants and they naturally benefit us without the use of chemicals. I came away with a fresh new understanding of the world around us. I recommend everyone visiting the gardens just to see what you might...

The Bonaire Botanical Garden is just off the road between Kralendijk and Rincon. Passed this place many times, and on the last day in Bonaire decided to stop in just to see what it was all about. Manuel was a very nice host even if we only stayed a few minutes. I am an AVID diver and base most of my vacation time around my diving, HOWEVER next time I get to Bonaire (Summer 2020) I plan to spend several hours with Manuel. His knowledge really seems amazing, and just the vibe I got from him made me want to sit down and chat with him for hours. Defiantly a MUST STOP...
