I'll start with the good feedback. I've been here before when I was a child, because I used to live on the island (now I'm living here again), and it was nice to see that they changed the entrance and made it more welcoming. My son enjoyed himself and I liked the passion fruit smoothie they served at the restaurant. What I did not like, was the fact that greed was more important to the owner, than keeping a customer. I moved back to Curaçao two weeks ago, and I showed them the document, so I can pay the local rate. They told me I needed a 'sedula', which is an ID that every local has. I don't have a sedula as yet, because my appointment to get one, was the week after. Showing them proof that I registered was not enough, I needed a sedula. I went with a group and they picked me up. My son was excited for the event (marshmallow party it was called) so I decided to pay the amount which I found ridiculous. We went especially for the event, otherwise we would've waited, and visit on another date. The staff agreed with me, but the supervisor or manager said no when they asked her. They asked her twice. She didn't even have the decency to come and talk to us face to face and the funny thing is, that my friend visited the day before as well, and someone else was working there who didn't even ask for an ID. So I don't know why they were being so difficult. If I show you proof that I'm registered as a citizen and you keep insisting that I need to pay the tourist rate, then there's something completely wrong with you as a person. Greed shouldn't be more important than...
Read moreThe farm isn’t the prettiest but it’s on par with everything else in Curaçao! Sure, it needs a little more care but the pandemic hit them hard and they’re getting back on their feet. If anything, supporting them now is better!
This trip is only $20 USD per adult (15 per person) if you pay with them and it’s definitely worth it. The people are friendly and there are more than just ostriches, there’s baby pigs, parrots, baby turtles, and more.
The tour guide wasn’t exactly charismatic, he had a dry humor which I love but I get some people don’t like that.
The tour itself is a little circle where the guide shows you Ostriches and Emu, explaining information about them in both Dutch and Spanish (though he also speaks English). Then he shows us the like 30!!! Baby ostriches!! Then we fed ostriches and took a picture which was awesome.
At the end they used to have a stone because the ostriches weren’t laying eggs until rainy season ended but now they have a real egg which we both stood on and held!!!!
This farm is just unique and I absolutely love it. I would recommend it to anyone to visit, especially since there isn’t much to do besides...
Read moreI visited this farm as part of a tour I booked via expedia. My experience was great. Visitors are allowed to do quite a bit with the animals. There are ostriches that you are allowed to feed, takes pictures with and get up close to. There are also pigs and piglets that roam the farm as you tour but are harmless and are only looking for the scraps that the ostriches drop. This farm was very interesting to me because of how some of the animals were allowed to roam around. Specifically the peacocks who would pop up at various time during the tour but never would pose enough for a great picture LOL. My tour included a 3 course dinner at the farm which only included Ostrich meat. I wasn't aware of this prior to purchasing the tour but I hesitantly tried the food and was pleased. Ostrich meat - at least they way it was served to me - actually was very tasty. However, it did taste a little gamey. They served it as a stir fry and the taste reminded me of steak but without the heavy filling feeling afterwards that causes me to now regularly avoid steak. If you visit this farm its also worth trying the food...
