Good, but expensive, an expense which they try to add to by rules prohibiting you bringing your own chairs or your own drinks. We ended up here by accident as our borrowed EV did not fully charge the night before. I was ready to be disappointed when I heard it referred to as a manmade beach but found it actually had the healthiest reefs left and right that I'd seen on the entire trip. I guess it did not have years of exploitation as a fishing launch so the cliffs were not picked over for tourist gift shop keepsakes. I did see some young men sneaking around the back of the massage hut to illegally gather sea urchins but otherwise the corals were pristine and the largest I saw anywhere in Curacao. I see many posts about it allegedly being rocky, but this, I think, is an exaggeration as you'll have no problem getting in or out. There's table service everywhere, but once we got a single slushy cocktail from the bar, they didn't seem to notice or care that we just subtly refreshed with beer and wine we had in our insulated bag. On this beach, a security guard kicks you out and they do actually lock the place up. Like almost everywhere, they do this well before the posted hours (the restaurant claimed it was open till 10:00 but they didn't have the business or staff to deliver on that). For those wondering, this is not the Kokomo from the Cocktail theme song: that place is made-up from some existing Florida names and was supposed to be somewhere down...
Read moreKokomo will always be- the beach I swam at! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE ❤️ Not overrated nor over crowded. This is a beach you want to visit. (Can't say anything about paying to enter😉) The lounge chairs were free and the aesthetic was sweet! The swim tho!! We were fascinated with the reef and fishes and the beautiful sand. The fish were as obsessed w us, they surrounded your feet w/o you knowing and are super calm. The floating deck out in the water was such a fun addition to the beach! We risked it all and swam out to it with goggles on and trying not to get our braids wet😂 it was gooood! You could definitely feel the depth of the water as you get out cause it gets colder the deeper you go. Super exciting experience 10/10! Oh I almost forgot! Animals! Their were lots of animals, different iguanas, even pelicans.
😁😁😁 soooooo I must say Kokomo didn't dissapoint AT ALL. The wait for pictures with the swing wasn't long just like 1 person infront us. And the teal water was gorgeous ofcourse. The sun was really out that day though so you can imagine.. this black girl roasted! Still the main part was.. see I like to say I can swim.. and I can🤥🤫.. but tell me how I had my family convince me to swim out to the floating plank😭 I was extremely nervous but we did it! Kokomo...
Read moreI love this beach! Such an incredible place to snorkel. Great coral reefs and a ton of sea creatures. Great lounge chairs, a nice bar and restaurant, and beautiful sandy area, and a rocky side with waves crashing. Great spot to take a scuba class.
Update : Yesterday, I assessed the location, and I'm somewhat let down due to the unsatisfactory cleanliness of the facility. The restroom was untidy, lacking toilet paper and paper towels. The massage facility is no longer available, and overall, the expenses increased without a noticeable improvement. I would rate this place a 3 stars as of December 20, 2023.
Update 8/17/2025: I have to say I’m a bit sad to see the changes at this place. Over 4–5 years ago, it was a fantastic spot, great service, always clean bathrooms, and beautiful, clear water. Now, the sand is consistently dirty, service has declined, and worst of all, there’s so much trash around the beach and in the water. The three of us spent about 20 minutes picking up trash just to enjoy the area. The snorkeling is still good, but whoever manages this place clearly isn’t doing a great job. I’m giving it 2 star, but only because it’s still a great...
