Very disappointed with my experience at The Tulip Barn. While I was at the Barn, a number of folks stopped and took out their Drones (DJI Mavic by the looks of them - not the mini type) and flew them over the fields and very close over peoples heads (including mine), in clear violation of Netherlands and EU regulations for drones (50 meter clearance). In addition, The Tulip Barn is drone "no-fly zone" and a highly regulated airspace (CTR Class C). This is due to it's proximity to Schiphol Airport.
I reported this to numerous employees and even, as I found out, the owner - and they could not have cared less. They would not lift a finger or get off their chair to ensure the safety of guests on their property from spinning rotors. One of them even joked "you're afraid of the drones?" as if I was an fool - they clearly do not know the damage drones can do to people and the reason why there are restrictions on their usage. I had to leave The Tulip Farm immediately and cut my experience short for my safety. I do hope that they are properly insured for such injuries that might occur on their property. Hilariously, the Tulip Barns website also says "no drones" - so they can't even be bothered enforcing their own rules, let alone the rule of law.
In addition, the tulips appeared very well trampled upon by uncaring guests and were, in my opinion, quite ugly compared to Keukenhof, with broken stems and squashed bulbs everywhere. I wouldn't suggest a visit anyway as you can experience this for free down the road. The picture attached is about as good as you could hope for. In my opinion, their food was overpriced too and it showed - not many people were lined up and eating it. Finally, it's hard to get to - you'll have to either ride for quite a while from Keukenhof on a bike or get an Uber/Bolt/Rideshare, I wasn't aware of any direct public transport. The only redeeming quality is that they were less busy than Keukenhof, but as you can see by this review - perhaps for good reason. I encourage you to sort by lowest review to see other Local Guides giving similar...
Read moreWe visited on Sunday 13 April at 11:00. A huge amount of flowers were in full bloom, the views were great. It started getting busier towards 12:00, so I suggest visiting on the early side and probably not on the weekends.
The Tulip Barn has got fields of hyacinths and daffodils as well. Their overall area is apparently 2 hectares. There’s a lot of props for you to take fun photos with: a windmill, mirrors, a tractor, beach chairs, a scooter etc.
On-site there’s also a cafe, a couple food trucks and a small indoor area with tulip-themed knick knacks like vases, candles, tshirts.
There are also a lot of tulip fields in the area that are free to look at, literally on your way to the Tulip Barn. You can’t enter them as they’re private area, but you can definitely take photos from the street.
My biggest issue with my visit to the tulip barn and the reason why I subtract a star is that you have to pay for the toilet. It’s only €0.60 but in my opinion quite petty to be asking for this if I’m already paying for...
Read moreVisited 16/4/23 Flowers are amazing but would have been even better if the weather had been a bit warmer the weeks earlier. ( dutch weather it's so unpredictable) Always next year! On the day the wind from the north bought the temp down to @7degree, 😮. No que due to time slot entrance and arrived early for a coffee. Food available was disappointing, considering it could bring in big 💰 for the owners. In doors - bar, coffee&tea& hot chocolate. Muffins ect, sausage roll, apple pie, cheese cake and alike. Very simple and easy to prep( or no prep needed, as straight out the box) Food truck outside, fries and from the freezer ( for deep frier ) chesse sack and alike . Of course numbers fluctuate on day & time ,but be ready to que no initiative on the day I visited to get the que down. ( the order takers waited to be asked " can I order? " instead of order takers up front " next- can I take order") Loos are out door in the moblie trailer, next to the kids play area. Parking had...
