Planning/Arriving: First of all, the website is easy to navigate and buying tickets is easy as well. Sadly for the app "not available in your country" (Luxembourg). The park is easy to reach and is good accessible via highway.
Attractions: For a young adult like me, there are 5 interesting rides. Fenix: This is a short but very good B&M wing coaster. Very smooth ride with some inversions and good forces (even some airtime). Dont miss this coaster. If you get the chance, ride it at night. Dwervelwind: A nice smooth spinning coaster. Not too intense but very fun and smooth running coaster. Booster bike: This ride sadly had a very slow dispach and the longest line. The ride concept with the motorbikes is pretty cool but the layout of the track is a bit boring and forceless. The launch is pretty good though Troy: Very fun wooden coaster which has a good layout and gives you the classic "out of control" feeling. Some could consides this ride as a bit rough though Blitz Bahn: This is a bit of a family ride with a nicely themed queue line. It has a small capacity though (so long lines) with 1-2 people cars. Its not that intense but it also has no restraints or seatbelts. Else there aren't really any attraction for my age group. I avoided the 2 water rides because it was only 5ยฐC. Since I went on a Sunday the park was also pretty busy and all the main rides had waits between 30-60min the whole day. The park has also a lot of playing areas and would be a amazing for younger kids.
Halloween: The park and all attractions were open till 11pm. Sadly the waits for the main attractions didn't really shorten at night. Compared to most US parks here you dont have to leave and reenter the park for the event and also it is a bit tamer (no violence or blood is shown) and kids are allowed too. They had 5 scare attractions and some scare zones. The scare attractions had to be booked online for a specific time and paid separately (5-7.50โฌ for one). The 57โฌ fear-pass, which included all scare attractions and a buffet, was too expensive for me. I booked "maison de la magie" and "Witches forest". For maison de la magie a shuttle takes you around 1km away from the park to the attraction. It is an immersive walkthrough experience with a nice storyline. The witches forest is set up in the forest around the lake in the Fenix area. They nicely used the forest setting along with fog machines, light effects, theming and scare actors. For each scare attraction, they let in small groups of 5 every two minutes.
The scare zones were also nicely themed and with scare actors, especially the mexican one with nice light effects was interesting. Also dont miss out the Circus scare zone, it goes through a fun house and has some scare actors as well.
Food: I was impressed by the quality and variety of food, better than average for a theme park. Go get some treats from the several food trucks, they are amazing!
Conclusion: The park is without a doubt meant for families with kids. For adults there is only a couple of interesting rides and also the halloween nights. I'd say a half day experience is enough. Despite of me being only there for half a day and it being pretty busy, I liked it. It has nice theming, its mostly clean and the halloween attractions were...
ย ย ย Read moreI must state I have no issues with smokers before I write this review. I don't personally and I appreciate that within Europe a vast majority of people do in fact smoke but being honest and transparent the only thing that spoiled this park for me was the people refusing to read the signs/map and website all stating that the park is no smoking BUT if you smoke you can in 7 designated areas. NOT literally next to me and my toddler in a children's play area indoors! Breathing your smoke over my child, getting ash on me! I obviously told the person to stop and put it out! The fact is the other people around saw and said nothing! I was so enraged and I emailed the customer services team because it really annoyed me which was a blanket response had that been efteling or one of the other parks the response wouldn't have been so blanket. I have Never come across that before some inconsiderate individual just casually lighting up in a kids soft play no less, frankly I shouldn't have to ask someone to put out their cigarette the rules should be pretty transparent if you smoke outside of the designated areas you will be removed it's as simple as that. Aside from that it was a really good day out, we should have booked in advance really as the on the day pricing worked out at around ยฃ100 for 2 adults, 1 teen and 1 under 90cm and the parking ticket. The food was good but if you are on a budget it may be advisable to pack a lunch? It was ยฃ50 for ice cream, drinks and one Turkish pizza. The recycling machines refunded some of that back around โฌ4.50. I would advise to use the live updates to check on ride times. My daughter loved the rides she went on and the later evening closure was really welcome. I would go again. Just to circle back to this as I said if you read my other reviews this is the first time I have mentioned this kind of issue and my reviews I am rarely if ever critical or negative without a justified reason for that feedback. I am just honest and straightforward as I said I am not anti-smoking. I just don't appreciate that happening. I wouldn't appreciate that happening in a place in England or even in the places I have even in Europe and If it's just part and parcel of that place then I will crack on and enjoy my day, move away etc but...
ย ย ย Read moreToverland is by far the best theme park in the Netherlands and one of the few parks in Europe with a massive potential to become a real superstar.
Each and every new themed area and attraction just adds more and more fantastic quality to this beautiful and magical world within flourish nature.
Everything in this parks feels so warm, friendly and the flowers, trees and bushes look just too wonderful. Unlike other theme parks they do not overload the area with artificial stuff but try to keep a balance between man-made objects and large sports of nature.
Rides like Dwervelwind (Spinning Coaster), Djengu River (Rafting), Booster Bike (Launch Coaster), Troy (super fast wooden roller coaster), Blitzbahn (Bob) and Scorpio are soooo much fun for the entire family.
But since 2018 FฤNIX welcomes guest to ride on the wings of a mythical creature. It is for sure one of the finest wing coasters out there. It's forceful but still extremely smooth and well worth a re-ride. And how it just flys and soars above the entire area of Avalon is just beautiful. There are walkways everywhere which offer guest endless fantastic photo opportunities. There is also a new super cute boat ride on a lake with a charming, magical indoor part and all of the kids in our boat were simply wowed.
In general food in the park is delicious and very affordable. They offer a wide selection of foreign food but also all the Dutch classics, different types of soft ice and a great selection of nice beers in the beer garden.
I am visiting this park on regular basis since 2010 and whenever I come back I am overwhelmed by their development and how they know to please an audience.
To me this park is the complete opposite to Efteling where my visits usually end up in complete frustration. Toverland is fresh, happy, modern, playful and has a lovely eye for details.
I love this park and would highly recommend it to everyone. If you dunno which park to visit - It's easy: Simply pick Toverland over Efteling (it can hardly live up to its hype). You won't...
