I found this place to be something else, but in the best way. Here is why: This place has a gloomy history, but they have done such a good job to perserve what is left of it, after the destruction of half the camp many years ago. I paid 12 Euros to enter, You receive a complimentary audio tour and map. What I loved most about this place, once you go down the stairs there are Interviews Regarding former inmates of this camp. Walking along the woods, you see pictures of inmates that survived this campaswell. Objects like eating bowls, Handmaid shoes, and doctor's clothes are all on display in this camp. After everything, you get to sit down and have a good meal before you head back home,in their modern restaurant....

There's almost nothing left from the camp itself, but the visitors center is full of interesting models, pictures and items. They are going to reconstruct a part of the camp it I understand it correctly. I heard the tour is good, but we got assigned to someone who dragged every tiny detail out and lectured as if to kids (with voices and acting out scenes in a childish way), so perhaps they need to have some training in that area. On the whole it was touching, informative and educational. Well...

Nice, small, not really bang for the buck, but still worth seeing if you want a piece of horrible Dutch history. The atrocities that took place here have been described through the people who were here. And an interesting addition was the importance of the medical resistance network where doctors find themselves in deep conflict with the Hippocratic Oath and the Nazis demands, thus refusing to work as doctors at all untill allowed to fulfill the Oath and help prisoners as well as Nazis.

Powerful and respectful presentation of the appalling history of this camp -- it's story including the officers, Dutch neighbors, and especially the people who suffered here. The stories and artifacts presented in the underground museum are extremely moving. I was alone during my visit and was able to explore freely at my own pace Just a walk in the woods to view the monuments is a solemn event. Kudos to the caretakers of this important monument.
