Deze indrukwekkende eik is naar men zegt de oudste eik van Nederland. Hij wordt ook wel de 1000-jarige eik genoemd, maar dat is in ieder geval niet de juiste leeftijd. Men schat dat de boom geplant of gekiemd is ergens tussen 1400 en 1600. Dat komt dus neer op een leeftijd van zo’n 500 jaar. De boom is gespleten en bevat een holte afgesloten met een ijzeren hekwerk ter bescherming; er is dus een stuk van de stam tussenuit.
