I think I found Tulip Bicycle Tour through an ad on Facebook and thought I would try to book a ticket. It was really easy to book it online and there was also a cancellation policy (which I didn’t use, but it is nice to know you could cancel with money back).
I didn’t know I booked the tour on the flower parade day. I arrive early as I was coming from Amsterdam and the buses I found were not frequent so I wanted to make sure I was on time.
It is really easy to find. I arrived at maybe 08h30 (ish for a 09h30 start) and before 09h00 they arrived and started checking me in. The couple who manage/own it are incredibly friendly. While most of the group was on time some were a bit late (or well later) and they were calling to make sure that they were not lost, which I thought was nice.
Joost and Linda guided our group of about 18 people, through the town of Lisse and then through the fields. I wasn’t expecting to be able to get a bit of Lisse history so I was really happy. Joost and Linda made sure that no one was left behind and when crossing streets made sure that we could all cross without problems. They paid attention.
The flower fields were stunning. You don’t just see Tulips but we saw I think hyacinth, daffodils and also some tulips. All of the fields we saw were so beautiful.
We had a stunningly sunny day which was fabulous. I really do recommend doing this tour. It is not strenuous the bicycles were in good condition and if you want they had helmets you could use.
The tour was from 09h30 and I think we returned back to the start at 12h15 ish. So it is a nice hour and a bit.
If you go try to spend a bit of time in Lisse. I wasn’t able to go to the Tulip museum as it was closed but it is a beautiful town which would be...
Read moreI always look for bike tours in different countries, and this one was easy even though it says it’s many many miles/kilometers. There are stops at tulip farms and photo ops along the way. If you were ever driving or taking the train past the flower field, trying to take pics through dirty glaring windows, this is the trip for you! Now you stand IN the fields and can take pics surrounded by flowers! The guide was firm but friendly, keeping all riders safe and together. We rarely had to cross busy streets or worry about aggressive cyclists, like in Amsterdam city. Keukenhof is also worth seeing, a completely different experience. I went afterwards, since it’s only an 15 min walk away, and I can’t decide which I prefer! To get to this tour, I took the Keukenhof bus w/o a park ticket, and walked to the rental shop, then returned - buses run twice an hour. It was April 3, a little early for tulips, so there were still tickets available. Actually, they bloomed a week early due to mild weather, which means the season will end earlier! I got lucky, but not so for those with tix for late April. No need for an eBike on this ride, although the parents lugging children in back were working a little harder...
Read moreWe had an amazing time biking amongst the flower farms, it was truly a highlight on our recent trip to the Netherlands! Irene, one of the owners, very kindly answered my last minute email asking if my husband and I could join a group...I was so excited when she responded that she could include us. Leony, one of the tour guides, was also lovely...very friendly and happy to take our picture along the way so we could remember this part of our trip. Visiting Kuekenhof is amazing, but this biking tour was the cherry on top for me...the weather was nice, the flowers were at peak bloom, and the smell of hyacinth would find you at unexpected moments as we were biking along. It was absolute bliss! I highly recommend Tulip Bicycle Tour to anyone and everyone - it will make your trip to see the flowers complete! Thank you so much, Irene, for making our visit to the tulips a memory we'll always...
