Strand van Makkum — Attraction in Súdwest-Fryslân

5 stars from a windsurf perspective. Knee-deep for about a kilometer, then nice waves for some bump and jump. With a good south-west you can really have some nice steep waves of about 1.5m

Good beach access.

I went here many times with my kids, who by now can windsurf.. but also go myself with a good 20knots SW it is a lot of fun.

Can't comment much on the rest of the resort... I would say that if you are not into watersport.. not the place to be. If you love...

Wir kommen schon seit ich ein kleiner Junge bin regelmäßig nach Makkum / Hoalle de Porte und verbringen jedes Mal eine tolle Zeit hier. Das Ijsselmeer mag vielleicht nicht mit dem schönsten Wasser auftrumpfen, bietet aber einen schönen, langgezogenen Strand und ein sehr seichtes Wasser, welches perfekt für Familien mit kleinen Kindern und Windsurfer geeignet ist. Des Weiteren gibt es die Möglichkeit Beachvolleyball, Fußball oder Basketball zu spielen und es gibt einen kleinen Skate-Park sowie einen Spielplatz für Kinder. Wer möchte, kann auch einen Surf-, Kite- oder Segelkurs belegen. Und auch die Promenade bietet gute Restaurants (egal ob gehobener, Pommes oder Kippeling) und kleine Boutiquen, bei denen zumindest ich jedes Mal was Schönes finde. Since I am little boy, we come to Makkum / Hoalle de Porte regularly and always have a great time here. The Ijsselmeer may not boasting with the most beautiful water, but it offers a nice, long beach and very shallow water, which is perfect for families with small children and windsurfers. Furthermore, there are possibilities to play beach volleyball, soccer or basketball and there is a small skate park as well as a playground for children. Those who wish can also take a surfing, kite surfing or sailing course. Moreover, the promenade offers good restaurants (whether upscale, chips or kippeling) and small boutiques, where at least I find something...

Probably one of the better beaches in Holland (only been to 3). On a sunny day, it seems like a real beach, meaning warm weather, swimming (water still very cold), and beach atmosphere. The sea is also not as aggressive or rough as other beaches, so great for the family. It is very shallow for about 100m or so. There are plenty restaurants and attraction areas. Also camping...
