Meijendel — Attraction in Wassenaar

Meijendel is one of the most beautiful and accessible parks in the The Hague area. There are a lot of paths to choose from, be it a bicycle path, walking or unpaved. Some parts, especially around the pancake restaurant can get really busy. This is also where you can park your car. I recommend going by bike to the park as also in the park itself you can get around by bike which means you can see more of it in the same amount of time, or better yet combine it with a visit to the beach. The park only has a limited amount of parking available which means the gates will stay closed until someone leaves on busy days (like national holidays or the first warm days of the year).

Meijendel is a hidden little gem in Wassenaar. Since I can remember I have been coming here with my parents to get pancakes and hot chocolate after a nice walk through the wooded dunes. Its living room type feel with an inviting open fire place really makes it feel like a home away from home. Real shame that they decided to change their service approach to self service. I know they would be overwhelmed on the weekends by customers and couldn't meet demands so decided to convert. As an FnB manager I see the obvious benefits financially but the place did loose the charm that comes with table service. Meyendel is a truly enchanting place, in a cool forest and with large green spaces to play. The fully glazed chalet is delightful and welcoming inside, with red checkered curtains and a large fireplace in the centre; Outside there is a large space with large wooden tables under the shade of the trees.
