Glenfern Sanctuary — Attraction in Aotea Great Barrier

I went over to Glenfern sanctuary for a GIS Geek Retreat and had an amazing time. The sanctuary is a hidden paradise, a haven for biodiversity and it is beautiful and so much hard work has gone into it from passionate people using the latest technology. Staying in Fitsroy house was amazing and I would recommend it to everyone. Also great to take the kayaks out for a bit of a break in between all the learning. 100% recommend, thanks to Scott gor organising and thank you Christene for looking after us so well.

We just spent a few days at Glenfern cottage and had an amazing time - we can’t wait to go back! The cottage was perfectly set up for a winter’s stay with a great fire, excellent kitchen and rooms, and lovely views of the harbour. We were very cozy. We enjoyed the walks around the sanctuary, spotting dolphins and stingrays in the bay (including from the kayaks, fishing off the wharf and our son loved visiting the chickens and lambs. Amazing place which allowed our group to get away from it all while still being able to do our work. The team of Chris and Sarah looked after us so well (thanks for all the fish) and we can't wait to have our next annual planning meeting there.
