I went over to Glenfern sanctuary for a GIS Geek Retreat and had an amazing time. The sanctuary is a hidden paradise, a haven for biodiversity and it is beautiful and so much hard work has gone into it from passionate people using the latest technology. Staying in Fitsroy house was amazing and I would recommend it to everyone. Also great to take the kayaks out for a bit of a break in between all the learning. 100% recommend, thanks to Scott gor organising and thank you Christene for looking after us so well.

If you are looking for a place to do some teambuilding or learn more about the great work that happens here, Glenfern is the...

We just spent a few days at Glenfern cottage and had an amazing time - we can’t wait to go back! The cottage was perfectly set up for a winter’s stay with a great fire, excellent kitchen and rooms, and lovely views of the harbour. We were very cozy. We enjoyed the walks around the sanctuary, spotting dolphins and stingrays in the bay (including from the kayaks, fishing off the wharf and our son loved visiting the chickens and lambs. Thank you so much to Christine and her partner for being such...

Amazing place which allowed our group to get away from it all while still being able to do our work. The team of Chris and Sarah looked after us so well (thanks for all the fish) and we can't wait to have our next annual planning meeting there. Access by boat or from the airport was good and the team loved the guided walks as well as the awesome snorkelling, swimming and kayaking. Wifi was great and...

Nice place for walks to check out the nature. W little underwhelming on the native wildlife side, but it was made up for by the views. Be sure to check out the Kauri Tree House right at the top end of the sanctuary, as well as the Sunset lookout.

A great place to walk around and enjoy the views and be in nature. Take a hike up to sunset rock for some of the best views on GBI, and take a swingbridge over to a large kauri. Free entry but feel free to bring some cash to donate.

This is a hidden gem of a place, we didn't stay here but took the walk up the hill and through the bush where we climbed the Kauri tree. A great experience that costs no more than your time.
