Horrible Experience – Would Never Recommend! 😡 Visited today, expecting to find a proper reception desk to pay the visiting fee — but there was none. Instead, a very rude person approached us aggressively, accusing us of ignoring his sign and not paying.
He took the cash directly by hand and then tried to run off. When we questioned his rude behavior, he made an extremely offensive and racist comment: "People of your culture don’t pay."
When we called him out for being racist, he told us to take our money and leave because "it’s his private property." When we agreed to leave and asked for our money back, he suddenly said he had changed his mind and refused to return it.
This was shocking, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. It felt like this place only welcomes locals and does not treat overseas visitors with respect.
On top of that, the fish ponds were dirty, and the fish looked like they were struggling to breathe — very poor maintenance and animal care.

The NZ native avenue was enough to make you proud of our diversity and pieces of ceramic art here and there were a great touch. That's all I had time for but definitely want to see it...

I would like to come back to visit as I didn't have time to see it all as I was so busy. The day was so lovely and sunny and so were the people and the organizing committee. (I hope you will remember me next year!) Kindest regards Isabel Norton Merynstone (Fine N.Z....
