Knottingley Park is a popular camp site in the middle of a lovely arboretum. It's council owned and maintained with the community pride I've come to expect with this sort of management. The facilities were new and spotless with plenty of useful information about the park and the area displayed in the kitchen. After a lot of rain some of the site was muddy and soft, but other campers and some helpful and v very pleasant permanent residents were on hand to push the stuck vehicle out and find a drier spot to park. I was very glad of this refuge after encountering bad weather up the Waitaki Valley and had a safe and happy overnight stay with an easy drive on to Christchurch the next day.

Knottingley Park has some lovely colourful flowers, a nice campground, trees, gardens, a historic cottage and farm animals. I like coming here for picnics, as it is peaceful. The bathrooms are very clean and the grounds are well maintained. We even saw sheep and lambs.

Beautiful place....we stopped there and had a late brekkie in our motorhome, followed by a wee walk round the park. Will get the map of the tree trail next time we are down this way so we can follow it round😀

Stunningly beautiful park. Large parts were closed by locked gates but, would be great for walkers and cyclists. The place is unattended and works on an honesty box system so a map in the kitchen area showing what areas it's permitted to camp in - some areas appeared quite damp and l didn't want to risk getting stuck, which have power etc would have been fantastic. The rates are reasonable and a system whereby it's possible to pay online would have been ideal. I didn't have correct change so l left and by the time l found somewhere to get change it was easier to go to...

Great camp in a lovely reserve with a retro layout. Good value, paid 15 p/p, p/night for an unpower site. Some powered sites available for 1 dollar more. Facilites include a tidy kitchen with 1 sink, microwave and instant hot water. Coin operated laundry machines. Only downside was the toliet and shower block, while functional, are very old and some would find them unsightly.

Awesome walk through the reserve with great...
