It was a delightful to look around Trott's Garden down Racecourse Road in Ashburton. It was so peaceful to wander around at will, directed by yellow arrows and visited by plentiful birds. At one point I was accompanied by a confident little cheeky kitten which I particularly liked. The gardens are beautifully laid out with mazes made from boxed hedges. A wonderful range of well established trees are planted for affect. The perennial borders gave a nice splash of colour from a wide variety of plants even at the end of April. Included in the gardens were sculptures, seats, lookouts & obelisks and a tranquil pond. For anyone looking for a wedding venue Trott's Garden may fit the bill perfectly as they have a chapel & marque ready to go along with the lovely setting. Thank you for this lovely...

We had a fantastic Sunday afternoon here. Super friendly welcome by owners they saw my 83 year mum had a walker and offered the free use of buggy/golf cart to drive around gardens. It was a lovely easy stroll around the gardens for the rest of the family and then finished the afternoon sitting at tables under the trees with a glass of bubbles and ice-cream purchased from 'Bertie' (the retro caravan). The new owners have already put a lot of effort into upgrading and improving areas - the marquee and chapel upgrade are brilliant along with the addition of the previously mentioned Bertie. The whole place has a lovely feel about it, I would totally recommend for a function or just a relaxing afternoon by yourself or with a few friends. Thanks Rob and Janene, you are doing an...

Trott's Garden is a garden of international significance and it's truly a stunning garden.  Over the years it has been beautifully designed and developed.  It is one of the best privately-owned gardens we have visited. There was so much to see including; the Woodland Garden, the Red Border, the Long Perennial Borders, Knot Garden with the blue steps, as well as the Brantwood Chapel.

Cost is $15 per person which we found a little expensive. While they do have Eftpos facilities they are not always available so take cash just in case they don't work.

If we lived in Ashburton we would join their 'Friends of the Garden'. Only pay an annual fee and visit many times - this is a great idea and...

We dropped by because of the high Google reviews, and it was worth the visit! We came across flower species that we had never seen, and I had never expected to see so many maple trees in fiery red this time of the year, and there they were, blooming like fire! Trott’s Garden was definitely worth a visit, but bear in mind that it costs NZD10 per adult to enter as it’s a private garden (children are free.) It makes sense when you see all the nicely trimmed hedges and lawns.
