Nice little lighthouse by the river. Need to read history online along with heritage boards in park. Nice location by river and can walk under state highway bridge for access to toilets and children’s play area. Worth a stop.

Maybe we just got Wairoa and its lighthouse on an off-day, but the town was all closed up by 2pm on a Saturday. Nothing open, nobody around, and the river was certainly not something to venture too close to. Very sad, as I had hoped for a lovely little town with some...
