Cockle Bay Reserve — Attraction in Howick

This is my local beach and it is absolutely gorgeous. It is a quiet, peaceful area full of ducks and other bird life and great on a summers day!

I particularly like the little river to the left of the reserve where the ducks hang out, but the entire beach can be walked across whether the tide or high or low.

I would also recommend checking out Windross Restaurant tucked away as they make excellent food in my opinion.

As far as views are concerned, they are excellent. Beachlands can be seen far off into the distance as well as other farm land. What makes Cockle Bay so great is that it is literally on the eastern edge of Auckland giving it a nice private feel.

I love this beach! You can picnic take a BBQ and pitch up for the day on grass embankments along it's stretch of beach, there's a cool playground with good equipment for the kids to have fun, toilets at the opposite end of the beach, restaurant across the road, it's a beautiful sand and cockle shell beach and at low tide you can walk out almost 100mtr to the channel, good spot of fishing here. Lit up at night so great for those night walks...

Great open public space close to beach with stunning views. There is a bridge that goes over a creek that goes out to the ocean where children can see ducks in the river below.
