Well this has been for sure one of the strangest experiences while travelling a new zeland for both me and my girlfriend.
Lets start with the entrance. The place is easy to find and you will just about 100 metres on a gravel road before reaching the venue. We were greeted by couple of ducks and chicks driving through the “town” to get to second carpark as in the primary one there is a space for about 6 cars.
The venue itself. Well lets just say its… bizzar at least. ITs a mixture of old and forgottwn stuff such as tools, toys, manequines (which make the whole experience VERY creepy) and nature. There is a LOT to see. We spent here about 2 hours going thoroughly through the whole “village”. There are sheds, remmnants of the days past, there is a car, there is a canon… whatever you can think of really and running amongst it, hundreds of ducks, chickens and geese.
What an experience it is. There is also shop, so some of the stuff is for sale. It took the owner to build it as it is for nearly 2 decades.
So mixed feelings. Especially on a cloudy day is kinda scary experience. But one I...
Read moreDemolition World; it's a hands-on journey through time! There are no display cases, no signs with explanations. Instead, you'll dive into a world of forgotten objects, houses, and tools from the last 100-150 years of New Zealand history. What stories could these places and objects tell? Every visitor becomes a detective, piecing together their own narratives. A rusty tractor, an old car, an abandoned train station, an old shop – each piece holds a puzzle waiting to be solved. And while you wander among the relics of bygone eras, you'll encounter free-roaming animals that lend the place a vibrant, almost surreal atmosphere. A playground for the little ones ensures that even the youngest explorers have a great time. Demolition World is a place of imagination and wonder, an adventure for all the senses. Here, history isn't presented; it's...
Read moreThe place is piled with bits and bobs of every imaginable kind. Bottles, dummies, toys, dentists chairs, records, books, and things I have no idea what they are. This place is probably not for little children as too many sharp edges, unprotected corners, holes in the floors, but as soon as you can trust them they will love this place. You can pick up and look at things, touch items that would normally be in a museum, flick through old books and explore the piles of junk that are everywhere. No fee to go in, but for the entertainment donate accordingly. There is a play area for young children in the back, and chickens & ducks roam free. This place is better than some of the museums I...
