This was the second time I had visited the Waipoua Kauri Forest (previous time was around 25 years ago) and I found it to be one of the highlights of my week long holiday - the tracks were well maintained and mostly fairly flat but the trees are just amazing! - I was more impressed by Te Matua Ngahere than I was by Tane Mahuta - that tree is a monster - the scale of which, just can't be captured in photographs (much to my dismay) - the guides who were on site also added to the experience with interesting facts and historical information - I'm sure I'll be just as awestruck if I visit again 25...
