This is a lovely walk, but it was slightly confusing when I read about it beforehand. There are two choices of walks from the Cullen Point Scenic Reserve Carpark. The most recommended is the quick 10 min (about 500m) walk along the ridge which offers great views towards Havelock and across Pelorus Sound at various points. It's quite steep in places, with a number of steps - but short, so manageable. The longer walk is the Coastal Walk, which doesn't ever quite get down to waterlevel. It does afford great views of the other shore of the Sound. It's a lovely track, through regenerating bush, a bit up and down, which goes around Cullen Point and also offers a number of clear views, in all direction. We did both walks and together they took about 1 h 15 mins, with plenty of stops for...

Totally worth the 6min drive out of Havelock to this lookout. About 10 steps from the carpark, you already get a magnificent view, can stop and have lunch there, with a view of Havelock township.

The short loop (9mins) has an easy first half with wide flat path and treated to a great view of the sounds after 4-5 mins of walking.

Continuing on, the rest is a tighter track with much more uneven ground (steep steps and tree roots), best to wear sturdy sneakers or shoes. You can do it in jandals but some parts are trickier.... if you have bad knees you might just wanna do the first half.

Right at the top is a great view of the sounds, magnificent! The 1 hour loop was closed when we got there, but Im sure the views are even...

Cullen Point Lookout is essentially at the start of the scenic route from Havelock to Picton that follows the Queen Charlotte Drive. The drive offers nice views of both Pelorus and Queen Charlotte Sounds and there are some nice sheltered bays and inlets along the way. Yes there are other viewpoints a little further down the road but these are just pullover points and traffic heading to Havelock is not allowed to cross the road to access them. The advantage of Cullen Point is that it has a car park, toilet and a walking track that offers views over both Pelorus Sound and back across to Havelock - so its a good chance to...
