If this is what the edge of the Earth would be if the planet were flat, then this would be it. Utter beauty!

The route to Castle Point view point is excellently well kept and maintained, not a spot of rubbish anywhere to be seen!

The Beach ablutions could however be better kept neat, but the fact that there are fully operational toilets are a massive plus especially for long travelling visitors I'd imagine!

This is a must to those travelling, add this to your route even if its a tad out of the way, it is WAY worth it! Great...

We came on a hot sunny day and it seems Castlepoint was the place the, lots of people about. The sand dunes were too hot to slide down, the sand was too hard on the feet, so must remember to come earlier in the day. The swimming was good and the kids did body surfing. We then tried to find a shaded spot for a picnic but most of the good spots Thad been taken but we found a picnic table be the south end car park. We wandered up to the lighthouse and explored the area before heading...

Beautiful place! You'll take plenty of of beautiful pictures there. The walk to and around the lighthouse is very easy.

There's another steep "hill" you can go up to but you need to check whether the trails are open as there's sometimes slides etc.

Beaches there are also beautiful and there's always plenty of surfers and people fishing.

Definitely prepare a lunch with you or go elsewhere because there's only one cafe/dairy I know of but at least they stay open relatively late for...

A beautiful beach with golden sand. Being out of season it is very peaceful. I would imagine weekend being more busy. Sea is mild, but after 10 minutes you don't notice it. The waves are easy rollers not nasty dumpers or harsh pounders. Basic amenities are available by the road. Ample parking above the beach with front on parking, so you all get a beautiful view. Also there is regular short flights of stairs from the road to the sand, there is one long ramp for easier access too.

One of the most amazing and spectacular beaches and locations in New Zealand. Well worth going out of your way to visit this slice of paradise. The incredible landscapes, views, swimming areas and fishing areas have to be seen to be believed. Go for a walk up Castle Rock or to the lighthouse or through the forest. You can swim either at the main beach or within the lagoon. I can't recommend going here enough. Simply incredible.
