Miyazu Japanese Garden in Atawhai, South New Zealand, is not only a serene and beautifully designed space, but it also teems with wildlife, especially ducks! This photo captures a family of ducks swimming peacefully in the garden’s reflective ponds, adding a charming and lively element to the tranquil setting.

The ducks, often seen gliding through the calm waters, bring an extra layer of life to the experience. Their playful presence delights visitors, and they are often seen in groups, as shown in the picture. For nature lovers, especially families, watching the ducks go about their day is an added joy to the already picturesque surroundings.

Whether you’re there to relax, admire the garden’s design, or simply enjoy watching the ducks, Miyazu Japanese Garden offers a perfect escape into nature. It’s a place where the harmonious blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and the vibrant wildlife, like these ducks, make for a truly...

Step into serenity as you walk through the entrance of this beautiful Japanese Garden. Mind your step as you walk across the pond over stepping stones, watch the friendly ducks. Find your way through all the different paths. Great place for the kids to go rock hunting (like a treasure hunt, only with painted rocks) Bring a picnic, or read a book in the little hut. Every Spring (around the time the Cherry Blossoms bloom) there is a Cherry blossom Festival. There is toilet facilities here which bonus, and picnic tables. No bbqs. You could walk here from the city centre depending on your fitness and Founders Park is just...

Amazing hideout in the city and one of the best kept secret ! Absolutely stunning, small Japanese garden, built to celebrate Nelson sister city - Miyazu. Featuring beautiful trees, plants and even fishes including eel pond. It’s a perfect place to sit, unwind and relax under a tree on one of several benches and enjoy beautiful scenery including mini bridge and small temple. It takes 15 minutes to walk around and see everything but take your time to look for all small features and details. It’s absolutely worth a walk or drive from city centre!
