Very disappointing. First time there since 2014. I am a tour guide and used to take tour groups there up until 2014. It used to be a fabulous and well kept Reserve/park. Not any more tho. Some areas like the Redwoods and the pool were good, as you will see from the photos. But in other areas, the standard has dropped markedly. Paths not kept clear/clean, scrub covers areas that used to be well maintained and had plants in them. Also, part of the track was closed due to "work"". PLUS the fee to enter is $18. Certainly not worth it given other things you can do in Rotorua for $18. The person at the kiosk was clinical. He DEMANDED to see my friends Gold Card although I'd presented mine, and my friend was in her 70's. He was unapologetic; just saying those are the rules. Not customer friendly. The standard has gone down hugely. Would I revisit it, or recommend it?? On the current experience - NO - ESPECIALLY at $18. If price was between $5-$10, yes. This place has so much potential. The waters are crystal clear. The Redwoods are great. The shimmering sands and water pool are excellent. BUT, the signs need cleaning so they can be read. . And so on! A real shame. It used to be a true "pristine and a real out of the way gem". Please bring it back to the standard it used to be before they...

I called the office requesting a frequent visitors pass, however this is limited to Bay of Plenty residents only.

We are from Waiuku and are very very frequent visitors to Hamurana Springs and Rotorua, are owners at  the local Ramada Resort and are extremely disappointed with the charge fee you are now wanting ...

We were wanting to bring our sons with us, one of whom is from Perth to experience this amazing wonderland.

We believe frequent visitors like ourselves should also be entitled to the locals pass, as should others like us.

We understand it costs to keep a place such as this but the fees are totally unreasonable, especially as there has been no charge since before end of last year. Perhaps you should rethink this and people like ourselves will once again visit.

We have a wedding in Feb with over 20 people coming from Australia, we will now also advise people to avoid Hamurana Springs due to this, on principle. We would have brought all of these people with us to visit.

Rotorua is an expensive place to do most things, Hamurana Springs was one of the rarities in the area that was free.

We would accept the fee same as locals. However were advised this was limited to Bay of...

On my first day in NZ from the USA I was extremely jetlagged driving around the Rotorua lake with my family.

It was pouring rain but we were looking to photograph black swans that we do not have at home. We pulled into an seemingly unmarked area that looked to be a public park and began taking pictures of the swans. There were no useful signs or any information and it was pouring rain and windy with poor visibility.

After a while of taking swan pictures we noticed to 2 ladies from the golf course began locking the gate on us without any explanation. I drove over thinking they were trying to close early but the extremely rude lady began yelling at me an accusing me of trespassing.

She claimed to have "tried" to talk to us but she never even attempted to come over and have a civilized conversation before just locking us in the gate and yelling at us.

This has been the worst experience that I have had in all my international travels. I will not be returning to Rotorua ever and will advise anybody I come across to avoid the area entirely.

Imagine running a tourist based business but being extremely rude to tourists who are far from home and very...
