Lake Okareka Reserve and Walkway — Attraction in North Island

This is a great walk for waterbirds. Birds were easy to see and there is a well positioned bird hide. Perhaps the only negative is that the viewing is a bit too good. Beautiful spot, more signage would be good as the track now goes right round to the free Doc motorcamp at the start of Acacia Rd ending end of Millar Rd Lake Okareka Rotorua but you can cut short turning around at the bridge returning on the same track you came in from Acacia Rd. Fairly small parking area. Nice walk beside the lake, a mix of gravel and boardwalk that goes for about 2kms. Toilets are located near the end of the track. Wheelchair accessible path.
