McLaren Falls Park in Tauranga is a beautiful and expansive park that offers a variety of activities and stunning natural scenery. Here are some highlights:

Scenic Beauty: The park is known for its picturesque landscapes, including a beautiful lake and a stunning waterfall. The lush greenery and serene environment make it a perfect spot for nature lovers. Walking and Hiking: There are several walking trails throughout the park, including the popular McLaren Falls Circular Walk. These trails are generally easy and suitable for all ages, offering great views of the lake and waterfalls. Picnicking: There are numerous picnic spots with seating, toilets, and drinking fountains available. It's a great place to enjoy a meal with family and friends while surrounded by nature. Camping: The park offers camping facilities, making it an ideal spot for an overnight stay. The camping areas are well-maintained and provide a great opportunity to experience the outdoors. Wildlife Watching: The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds and fish. Visitors can enjoy watching the local fauna in their natural habitat. Kayaking and Fishing: The lake is perfect for kayaking and fishing. It's a peaceful way to explore the water and enjoy the tranquility of the park. Petting Zoo: There is a small petting zoo within the park that is popular with families. It closes early at 2 PM, so it's recommended to visit the zoo first before exploring the rest of the park. Glowworm Kayak Tours: In the evening, you can join a guided kayak tour to see the glowworms. This unique experience is highly recommended and offers a magical view of the glowworms lighting up the night.

Overall, McLaren Falls Park is a fantastic destination for anyone looking to enjoy the natural beauty of New Zealand. Whether you're interested in hiking, picnicking, camping, or simply relaxing in a beautiful setting, this park has something...

Mclauren falls is a nice place to visit. You could spend a day there like some people were, swimming in the pools at the top with a picnic on the rocks. Or just visit and admire from a overlooking bridge which is used by cars and people alike. ( which is what we did ) there are very few car parking spaces ( perhaps 8 cars on main road) and a small area up a gravel road for about 8 cars if you turn left by the hut on the left. There were kids jumping from the bridge into the water, which was terrifying to watch as there are giant signs saying do not do this because of water levels, currents and giant rocks. BUT this is all being said it was nice to see people outside, smiling and cheering them. ( they were absolutely fine) If you find yourself passing deffintely spend 10 mins here as it is naturally pretty, especially...

This place is chilled. Park yourself on one if the many rocks and sunbathe or get in one of the many rock pools and relax. Make sure you put on a decent pair of runners and rock jump and head up stream away from all the other locals and tourists and find your own private rock pool. If you're into more thrills, people were jumping off into the deep part. Like any of these rock pools, be super careful you're not going to dive onto rocks at the bottom. Cool for children as long as you keep an eye on them and they're not near the edge of some of these rock pools. Fine for dog walkers also. Once you've finished rock jumping, head on up the road to Marshalls Animal Park for a day out for the family. Only a short drive from inner city Tauranga... this definitely should go on your adventure list to get the kids...

“The Wairoa river near Tauranga is one of New Zealand’s best stretches of accessible white water. The Trustpower Kaimai Hydroelectric Power Scheme provides great white water for recreational kayakers and rafters, by regularly releasing water from McLaren Falls dam.” The falls are almost a trickle unless there has been lots of rain or a monthly release of water from the dam. Nonetheless, the open rocks offer excellent places to enjoy a picnic and the beautiful surroundings.
