Opoutere Beach Public Park. — Attraction in North Island

Beautiful, quiet beach. Long stretch of white sand. Lovely walk through the forest to get there. Dogs permitted on a leash. Other side of the beach is a great place to gather shellfish at low tide but take note of DOC signs relating to quantity allowed and if any algae are present in the waters. Just a quick trip for us to Opoutere, but it was a relatively short walk from the carpark (apparently 700m) and all flat and easy walking to the beach. Mostly sand along a fairly narrow path through a pine forest. The parking area is gravel and caters...

Toilets are off the drive, on the way to the Public parking where most campers park up. The toilets were clean, flushable, had running water (non potable) for the sink taps, a soap dispenser and hand air dryer. There's a small rubbish bin outside...
