Pauanui Beach — Attraction in North Island

Easily one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever been to! Great spot for sunbathing, kayaking and swimming, and saw people out on jet skis, wakeboards etc. There is even the start to a walking track there. We unfortunately had no idea it was dogs prohibited from Labour Day to March 1st, so travelled over an hour to get there with our dog from Thames to find that out when we got there, so keep in mind dog owners. So we went up to Royal Billy Point which is about a 5min drive which takes you to the other end, and we just chilled on the large grassy area that overlooks the water which was still lovely (beach in that area also dogs prohibited). Would 100% come again when dogs are allowed, or do a separate trip without him to fully...

So much to do here. Climb the mountain at the south end of the beach, and come down via Flat Rock for a good 2 - 3 hour hike. Catch the ferry to Tairua and go to the cafe closest to the one lane bridge (great food). You can walk around the whole Pauanui peninsula by the water, and check out the Waterways, or try the biking and walking trail to Duck Creek and beyond which has beautiful views across the estuary and river. Another of the coromandel peninsula beaches drenched in sun. Great sandy beach and awesome place to chill and soak up the sun. Love coming here for a swim and surfers come here too. Great place for a walk up the surrounding hills and sight see from above too. Toilets at each end of the beach and carparks too. Awesome shelter in the harbour entrance too where the boat ramp is.
