Thoroughly enjoy this trail, perfect for getting a leg muscle day in. There are many steep stairs. Can avoid the sun burn if you go early in the morning 7-8am and enjoy sun at the end. Personally enjoy starting pukerua Bay and ending at paekakariki to have a victory iced coffee at a Cafe there then catching a train back to car. Also more covered area for the very end of the walk. Some walkers park in paekakariki and walk half way to peak top and U-turn back to paekakariki rather than doing the A to B. Says 3.5h but can manage easy in 2h if you're experienced/alone, non stop fast walking pace No dogs allowed, sheep crossings Exposed area, need sunscreen applied prior and during.

Scary escarpment track with high wind (79km/hr). Lots of climbing and exposure to the elements. About 10km from Pukerua Station to Paekakariki Station. Took us 3 hours.

I just did the escarpment track on the weekend for the first time and love it. Not super easy, I was definitely sweating but the views were amazing

It's a beautiful hike. I would reckon doing it from paekakariki to Pukerua direction. There's fewer steps to climb in this direction. Avoid on a windy day as its an...
