Second time to Paekakariki motor camp with a large(30+) male fishing group. This place would be great for a large family get together. We used large lodge at back of property. Fully equipped kitchen, lounge, separate female's and male ablution areas, separate freezer/fridge storage room. Accommodation rooms at backpacker standard, mattress and cover with pillow. The park is quite nice and well-maintained. Driving from the main road for a few minutes and walk for a few steps to the beach - the view is absolutely stunning. No people out there, it is only us. So peaceful. Taking your dogs for a walk is allowed here but don't forget to take care of their poops. Motivation for our visit was for our 5 year old to have a controlled environment for her first cycle without training wheels. The section from the tram north was perfect. It's quiet, with enough 'challenge' for a novice and other users of the bike path are considerate and kind.
