You HAVE to do this. BYO boogie board. saw people doing this on inflatable mattresses, but boogie boards work best. A reasonable drive there from Gisborne but well worth it. The rocks were smooth and it looked a bit freaky, but it was pretty safe, only drama was when some kids went down with people still exiting the water and nearly got taken out.    Read moreLots of fun for young and old. Ride on a tyre tube, lilo, air mattress, boogie board or as some do, just slide down the rocks the 60 meters to the bottom. Can be very busy in the peak of summer, but there's always room for more. Parking can be hard to find and vehicles over 8 mtrs long may have to park up the road a bit. The reason for the low rating is re all the untidy Kiwis, there was rubbish all over the place, even in the water, blow up mattresses, tyres, bottles etc. The rubbish bins were overflowing with rubbish on the ground.
