My favourite beach in all of Wellington city. The water is lovely and clear, you can watch the ferries coming in and out as you swim, there are toilets and showers, and a Cafe nearby. It can get very busy on a hot day, particularly on weekends and public holidays. You're better off to go on a weekday during working hours. Kids will love it too as there is a climbing frame and plenty of sand to play in if they don't like the water.

All in all a great beach with a beautiful outlook and adequate...

This is one of the best beaches in Wellington. Nice cove that doesn’t get too choppy, so it is perfect for swimming. Views are absolutely amazing. It is a nice bay that is more often sheltered from the northerlies that batter the rest of the town. Cold water swimming here in non-summer is a must if you enjoy that sort of thing. Can get very full on a nice day in summer. If full, parking can be a bit tricky but...

Scorching Bay - A great little spot, handy to the city, with a wide view of the entrance to the Cook Strait. Soft white sand, convenient toilets and changing rooms, a playground for young children, smooth grassy spaces above the beach, and quite a bit of parking space make this a fantastic spot. It also offers quite a lot of shelter from the wind, and the cafe nearby does a god job of food, coffee and...

It's a perfect place for picnic, a spacious ground and has the land and sand area to put up your tent or your mat. During low tide, there's a lot of thriving creatures revealed on the rocky environment. There's a spot for fishing as well. Parking space provided with toilet, showers and changing rooms. There's a nearby restaurant as well. And from here you can also view the Pencarrow lighthouse.
