What a beautiful place to play with your new water toys or go for a dip in the lake. My first time on the Bayride demo Yamaha jetski and got stopped by the Maritime Police, who educated us on the boating rules. 5 knots within 200m of ANY land, no exceptions and within 50m of another watercraft. The place is very popular on a good day and with a very small boat ramp and carpark, be prepared for a wait to launch or retrieve the boat and find a park. The area is very popular for jetskis, so if you turn up with a kayak and expect a nice quiet paddle, be prepared for not that, on the busy holidays. Water was really warm...

We visited this reserve on an impromptu road trip in the Lake Tarawera area. It is a gem in terms of scenic beauty and looks completely like a scenic picture post card. There is a children's park with decent rides and play ground installed. There is a boat ramp to enter Lake Tarawera and enjoy the boat ride. Public toilets are available here. The location is easily accessible by road. Highly recommended for a couple of hours of fun with kids and relaxing, and completely worth the effort visiting here...

A lovely place to launch a boat, have a picnic or play on the playground. The view across to Mt Tarawera is stunning and changes dramatically over a day and the seasons. Plenty of parking and toilet facilities. The water is cold but...
