I’m not sure why this attraction is pulling a 4.6 star rating. Make no mistake, this place is literally just a paddock with a sign. There is no visitor centre, public toilet or cafe. It’s also a very long drive away off the beaten track. The location is very remote. The nearest town is about a 10 minute drive away, but that town is absolutely tiny, it might have a dairy.
If you have time to pass through on your way to where ever you’re going by all means, go see a sign with the worlds longest place name written on it. At least it is much better now than when it was just the sign. Now it’s with an actual carpark / freedom camp area, with signs and explanations and opportunities to actually climb the hill. Great place to stop and explore if you’re passing by, but a long drive from Wellington if you don’t plan on exploring other places...
Read moreWe pulled in off the road where the large information sign on the side of the highway was pointing to the longest place name, but the thing had disappeared. After a quick Google we found out it was just down the road, so we headed down there. There was no way to pull in from the direction we were heading and even if we could, the entrance was blocked by a camper that couldn't get into the carpark and by some tourists that were stuck in the mud in the carpark. The whole area needs some work and more highway signage if it's supposed to be a...
