The ride and environment was spectacular, Camp Epic was goated (Better then the lodge). The woods feel like it came straight out of a fantasy movie, the timbre and trees look so amazing. Even though we wet on a cloudy trip, the bridges and atmospheres are so good. It's just 1 star off because the bike I hired has technical difficulties and the chains keep falling off. One thing though is there are random holes and mud splats on the middle of the road. Overall it was a fantastic experience! Downhills were fun, Uphills were not as tiring, pretty easy overall, child friendly also, I saw people hiking and a 5 year old riding throughout the whole trip!

Rode north to south on a non ebike in one day. Parts of the track are very bumpy, stoney and rutted. A hard slog at times. Beautiful bush scenery that changes as the track assends. Birdlike plentiful especially at lower levels. A great ride.

A total immersion in pure nz nature. Single track the whole way. We did this as a family (kids 6 & 8 years old) and camped at the start and at PiroPiro and totally loved it! Be prepared - there is no good, drink, or rescue along the trail.

My fiance and I are visiting from Canada and decided to check out the Timber Trail to really immerse ourselves in New Zealand's bush. We biked for 2 days from Pureora Village and camped at one of the DOC campsites. We had the best time! Such a perfect track for those looking for a relatively easy ride with a little challenge here and there. Riding through the beautiful native bush was definitely a wonderful experience - a great track for forest terrain.

I also wanted to give a special shoutout to the DOC rangers we saw working the track. I can't imagine the time and effort that goes into maintaining all these tracks to keep them in the great condition that they're in. Your efforts are truly...

We traversed the Timber Trail on the weekend of 1/2 November 2025. An amazing ride with breathtaking scenery from start to finish. The Timber Trail Lodge was fantastic, meals were plentiful and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, a special shout out for Caleb who was a hospitality star. The trail was a bit boggy in places but that added to...
